Monte Olmi

The vineyard is located in the community of San Pietro in Cariano, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica.

  • Range: 2.5 hectares
  • Altitude: 180-200 m asl
  • Exposure: southwest.
  • Form of winegrowing: Veronese Pergola
  • Terrain:  The land is of morainic origin and limestone marl in nature. The content of calcium and clay is present in equal measure, favoring a robust structure and good color intensity.

The very low vigor of the vines favors the production of highly concentrated wines endowed with great character. The sandy mineral fraction of the calcarenites gives notes of cherry, red currant, and raspberry.

The vineyard is grown on dry wall terraces. The steep slope ensures adequate water drainage in case of excessive rainfall, while the depth and structure of primarily clay terrain allows for water to be retained during drought.

Since 1964, thanks to an intuition that papa Lorenzo had, the grapes of the Monte Olmi vineyard were destined for the production of the Cru, Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico Riserva, that today has become the flag-bearer for the winery and a point of reference for the territory.

The birth of this wine together with research on zonation launched by Antonietta, Sabrina, and Riccardo, made possible the creation of other great wines by the winery.
