The name Fabriseria comes from a popular Veronese tradition. At the beginning of the 20th century, Fabriseria was the name of the village’s parish council that was tasked with the duty of managing the construction of the new Church.

Grandfather Riccardo was also a Councilor/vestryman. The council meetings usually ended with a tasting of the best wine produced by the vestrymen known as fabbriceri.

In the early 2000s, the Tedeschi family planted the Fabriseria vineyard located in Le Pontare (between the communities of Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella and Fumane) in the Classica zone of Valpolicella.

There are two crosses in the vineyard, probably of Celtic origin, which indicated to pilgrims, who included Dante according to some narratives, the road to reach the sanctuary.

The Land

From a geological perspective, the area lays on rose colored marl limestone, calcarenites, and grey-yellow clay shale from the Cretaceous. The land is very calcareous (30%), giving the wine aromatic complexity and intensity. The same terrain is characterized by rose-white marl, rich in calcium carbonate and iron oxide that gift wines with great structure and good balance. It is the sandy fraction that provides the fresh and fruity olfactory notes, which are fine and persistent. The silty texture produces wines that are balanced and long-lived.

sassi e roccie

We have revived the ancient custom by giving the name Fabriseria to two of our high-end products: Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Fabriseria and Valpolicella Classico Superiore Fabriseria, both of which were produced from grapes originating in this vineyard.
