Synonymous with terroir and Valpolicella across the world
Tedeschi boasts a deep bond with the Valpolicella territory that has kept it on the path of always seeking quality in their terroir wines produced exclusively from grapes grown on hillsides. Since 1630, our family has believed in the extraordinary potential of local wine production, enhancing its value in a modern key with innovative production and environmental management methods with the end result of creating a wine that is able to evoke emotion and render homage to the magnificent land.
The impetus for the modern history of the winery arrived in the 60’s thanks to Lorenzo Tedeschi. He was the first to intuit the diverse potential of the grapes grown in the Monte Olmi vineyard, which was acquired by the family in 1918, and then decide to vinify each of the grapes separately. The result was the birth of the first wine to symbolize Tedeschi, the Amarone Capitel Monte Olmi, which became the emblematic wine of the winery and the region.
For the Tedeschi family, listening constantly to the demands, proclivities, and rhythms of the land is essential in order to best interpret every single harvest, so that even the season with its own peculiarities becomes an integral part of the wine produced. We have always put our faith in hillside vineyards, where the poorest soil is able to give rise to wine with greater complexity and structure. The land is our main point of reference, and a resource that must be looked after, tended to, respected, and interpreted.
The story of a life in a vine. For generations we have endeavored to exalt indigenous vines such as Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella.
One of the first Cru from Valpolicella born out of Lorenzo’s happy intuition to vinify separately grapes from the namesake vineyard. The idea of writing the name of the vineyard on the label was adopted right away. The year was 1964.
We love challenges! The poorest land gifts us with a product that has greater complexity and structure. The quality of our wines remains our absolute priority.
Extensive experience together with scientific rigor is the formula our family has adopted to guarantee the future of the territory. We continue to invest in areas that we know will yield the best results.
Our sustainable approach is comprised of awareness together with the valorization of the beauty of a unique heritage where we have the good fortune to produce great wines that make up an integral part of our territory’s patrimony.

We have always believed in the potential of hillside vineyards. On poorer soil, one obtains wines that are more complex and structured. For the Tedeschi family, land is the main point of reference, a resource that must be looked after, tended to, respected, and interpreted. Lorenzo Tedeschi had the happy intuition to vinify separately the grapes of the Monte Olmi vineyard, creating thus, one of the very first Cru of the Valpolicella and giving rise to a wine that has become the symbol of our winery. Two additional Amarone Crus, La Fabriseria and Maternigo, have joined the Monte Olmi. In contrast, the Marne 180 and Ansari wines have their origins in grapes from other hillside vineyards.
The grapes come exclusively from hillside vineyards where shallow calcareous soil, continuous ventilation, and wide temperature ranges allow for an optimal ripening of the grapes, which develop a rich aroma and color and gift the wine with great typicality and complexity.
The excellence of our wines is also the result of our meticulous attention to the grapes after they have been harvested. In order to preserve the integrity of the fruit as well as to maximize aromatic expression, we have developed a controlled drying system. The first experiments date back to 1989, and in 2005, we built a drying loft with a system that permits control of temperature, ventilation, and humidity. This system ensures that the grapes dry under optimal conditions that inhibit the development of mold and maintain aromatic freshness.
During the three to four months that the grapes remain in the drying loft, they undergo a complex transformation that we monitor continuously, from the reduction in acidity to the changes in the relationship between glucose and fructose, all of which favor the concentration of polyphenols, glycerin, and other substances.
In January, once the drying has come to an end, the grapes are checked again and then undergo pressing. The must obtained is left in contact with the skins for a long period of time that can last months. This phase of the process is crucial to obtain a wine that requires long aging times both in the barrel and in the bottle. The result is a wine with inimitable characteristics that is an authentic expression of the territory and that can age and surprise for decades.
The Amarone della Valpolicella is recognized today as one of the most prized Veronese wines and one of the most important Italian reds. This wine arose from the evolution of the Recioto, one of the most ancient wines in the history of winemaking of our nation, which was celebrated by Cassiodorus, minister of King Theodoric.
Amarone wines require the highest quality grapes and meticulous care, which is almost artisanal in nature, in the winery. The quantity of product will always be limited to ensure its excellent quality and the unique gustatory emotions it evokes.
